Apple Starts Offering Refurbished New IPads At A Discount
Want a like-new iPad and a $50 iTunes Store card for the price of one new iPad? Here's how
The company is now selling refurbished new iPads for $50 off the price of a factory-fresh version. That means you can get a 16GB new iPad in black or white for $449 (regularly $499), and a 32GB or 64GB model for $549 and $649, respectively. Note that these are the wifi-only models; 4G LTE versions aren't available.
Refurbished iPads, like Apple's refurbished iPhones and Macs, come with a 1-year warranty just like any brand-new product. They've also been checked for defects and have a new battery and aluminum back case installed. They're even placed into a new box and sealed, so you can barely tell the difference. In fact, Apple is so sure of its refurbishment process that it uses like-new iPhones and iPads as replacements for warranty purposes.
If you're thinking about getting one as a gift, though, be warned that these iPads can't be custom engraved ? and they are clearly marked as being refurbished. Still, this deal is one that you might want to take, considering you can get a $50 iTunes Store card and an iPad for the price it'd normally cost you to get just the latter.
